Its name would be `Katrina: From America with Love.` Here is an excerpt from the draft book: Chapter 18 Eye of the Storm Sunday, August 28 around ten in the evening Brian`s mother, father, brother left for Ocean Springs. Ocean Springs is about five miles away from Brian`s house on top of a hill. It is probably the highest possible point in that city. Brian`s two uncles lived right next to each other in great southern houses that looked like something out of Gone with the Wind. They left and we told his family we will be there soon. Brian said he was nasty and he needed to take a shower. His mother made us promise to come as soon as he was done with the shower. We promised but we had no intentions of leaving. After they left Brian and I decided that we would play more FIFA. We played for hours until around three in the morning and than all of the sudden television went off on its own. I asked, `did you turn it off` Brian, `no` I said, `should we leave` Brian, `maybe, but I am a little tired. Let`s leave in the morning.` Let me tell the readers a little secret about myself, all of my life I loved sleeping through a rain storm. I love it when it gets dark outside and its raining hard. I sleep like a baby. On this night I slept on the bottom bunk bed while Brian slept on the top bunk. We were both tired and neither one of us could stay up any longer. We went to bed. Around nine in the morning we both were awaken to the loudest possible noise you could imagine. Brian, `what the hell was that` I responded scared, `I don`t know. I think we should leave now.` Brian, `Let`s go` I looked at Brian, `Do you see this shit` I was pointing at the ground the bottom bunk bed was almost under water and I could hear the waves hitting the house over and over again. Brian, `we have to get to the truck now.` I responded, `okay, let`s go` We started walking in the water and by the time we made to our room door, it was as if an earthquake had started. The room and the houses started shaking horrendously. Now we were both scared. His house started shaking as if it was a matchbox. Sound of the wind wooing as if gods were angrier than ever. The house must have shook with us in it for a good while. Brian, `we can`t leave this house now. It is too crazy outside. We are stuck.` I lost composure, `what do we do.` Brian, `as soon as the wind seizes and we are in the eye of Katrina we will leave. That will give us fifteen minutes to get to Ocean Springs.` I am screaming, `calm before a storm. When do we go?` Brian, `whenever there is total silence.` All of the sudden he and I heard the loudest noise ever. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom . . . It was as if King Kong was crushing houses as he walked. Boom, boom, boom . . . I am scared shitless, `what the fuck is going on.` Brian, `I think its trees falling.` I ran to our room door and opened it. All of the sudden I looked out of the room and saw outside. I shouldn’t be able to see the outside world at that moment. There was supposed to be a door where I was looking. There was supposed to be another room there. There were beds in that room. Bookshelves in that room. Television in that room. More I looked more cleared I saw outside. Nothing was there anymore. If I would step out of this room I would be outside. Half of the house was gone within three hours. Brian, `close the fucking door. The room is filling with water. Shut it.` Then all of the sudden as I tried to close the door a big ass tree trunk flew at both of us in an amazing speed. We dove under the water. By now the room was four feet under water. Brian, `shut the fucking door.` We both pushed the door as hard as we could against the howling wind. As we forced ourselves at this door, Mother Nature at the best of us. The door broke from its hinges. I screamed, `fuck the door.` Brian, `top bunk now` We climbed as fast as we could. We were on the top bunk and it felt as if we were at Six Flags riding the new Batman ride. Bunk beds moved sided the side as if the was a tiny fishing boat caught in the middle of a giant storm. ...
